This, we think, would be one of the precursors for US-China were ever to go to an actually war (hope they don't). Since the invention of the first computers, such as the ENIAC, computers are often used in military applications, likely funded by the government, so even from its inception it was always in the warzone. We are now well into the Information Technology era, which relies even more on Silicon/Semiconductors. So, lets dive in a little bit and see why there are a lot of talks on companies like TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) and why Silicon is such an important geopolitical commodity and how it’s creating tension.
