PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is one of the largest gold & copper producers in Indonesia and globally. It is such a strategic asset that the company has been in a prolonged “tug-of-war” for control with the government since 1991.
How it Began? In 1963, an expedition was conducted by Freeport Mineral under Forbes Wilson & Del Flint to explore Ertsberg (“Ore Mountain”) as part of the company’s global mineral exploration program.
